Remembering The Great Ejection
This summer marks the 363rd anniversary of one of the most solemn and sorrowful days in English church history: The Great Ejection of 1662.
On August 24, 1662, over 2,000 Puritan ministers were expelled from their pulpits for refusing to conform to the Act of Uniformity. These were men of unwavering commitment to Scripture — preaching with eternity in view. As one of them famously declared:
“I preach as never sure to preach again,
And as a dying man to dying men.”
Their legacy calls us to the same steadfast devotion today.
