WHAT MATTERS TO US

SOVEREIGN GRACE

We believe that the doctrine of sovereign grace best expresses the truth of salvation as revealed in the Scriptures. Salvation is of the Lord — from eternity past to eternity future. It is God who chooses, God who calls, God who regenerates, God who justifies, and God who keeps His people to the end. Man contributes nothing to his salvation except for the sin that made it necessary. All the glory belongs to God alone. This truth humbles the sinner, exalts the triune God, and brings rest to the sin-weary soul, for it reminds us that our hope is anchored not in the will of man, but in the unchanging purpose and power of God. This view has throughout the church age been known as Augustinian, Calvinism, and the Doctrines of Grace. It is the soteriology of the great historic confessions of the faith such as: The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion (1571), Westminster Confession of Faith (1646), and the First and Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1644/46 & 1689).

REFORMATION DISTINCTIVES

We joyfully affirm the Five Solas of the Reformation as a faithful summary of the gospel and a vital guardrail for the church in every generation. These truths are not the inventions of men, but recoveries of the biblical witness — truths that exalt Christ, humble the sinner, and protect the purity of the gospel. At the heart of the Protestant Reformation was a return to the authority of Scripture and the sufficiency of Christ. In direct contrast to the false teachings of the Roman Catholic Church — which added human tradition, priestly mediation, and sacramental works to the gospel of Christ — the Reformers declared with clarity and conviction that salvation is from God alone (as revealed in the Scriptures), by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.

NICENE CHRISTOLOGY

We confess the historic Christology of the early church, as defined by the Nicene Creed (A.D. 325/381) and upheld by faithful believers throughout the centuries. At the heart of the Christian faith is the person of Jesus Christ — truly God, truly man, one person in two distinct natures, without confusion, without division. Nicene Christology is not a secondary matter — for to deny the full deity or true humanity of Christ is to deny the gospel itself. The Lord Jesus is the eternal Son of God, begotten not made, of the same essence as the Father. In the fullness of time, He took on human flesh, was born of a virgin, lived in perfect obedience, suffered under the wrath of God, was crucified, buried, and rose again. He is now exalted at the right hand of the Father, and from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. This Christ is the center of our worship and the foundation of our hope. We proclaim Him without apology, for only this Christ can save.

MAKING DISCIPLES

We believe that the Great Commission given by our Lord is not a suggestion, but a command: to go into all the world, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, baptizing them in the name of triune God, and teaching all that Christ has commanded. Evangelism is not merely an activity of the church, but the outflow of love for Christ and obedience to His Word. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation; therefore, we do not rely on clever methods, emotional manipulation, cultural gimmicks, nor consider manufactured religious meetings to be revival. We preach Christ crucified, calling all people everywhere to repent and believe. We labor with urgency, yet rest in the sovereignty of God. We sow the seed, but know it is God who gives the growth. We do it all for the sake of His name — that the Lamb who was slain might receive the reward of His suffering.

GOSPEL UNITY

While the churches listed in the Directory may differ on secondary and tertiary matters of Christian doctrine and practice, they are united where it matters most — in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our unity is not one built on mere sentiment, but on a shared submission to the Word of God and a high and reverent view of God Himself, which is expressed most clearly in our unity in declaring the free and sovereign grace of God in Jesus Christ — that God's Word cannot lie and that salvation, from beginning to end, is of the Lord. This shared conviction produces humility, reverence, a sweet fellowship, and a God-centered faith that gives all glory to God alone. We do not pretend that every difference is unimportant, but we do believe that gospel clarity and doctrinal depth can coexist with Christian charity. These churches stand together in proclaiming the true gospel, exalting Christ, and calling sinners to repentance and faith — not by the strength of man, but by the power of God.
